Season of seperation?

Is it really that time of year now? One by one... people that I care about take up jobs, form families away from where I am. The term, "dropping like flies" come to mind but I guess it's not that appropriate to describe the situation.

Is autumn the season of change? of seperation? Where the healthy green leaves turn yellow, red and purple... finally withering away on the earth? Perhaps yes and perhaps no....

Guess life is rather cyclical, just like everything else in nature. Butterflies lay eggs and dies, eggs turn out the larvae, which in turn turn into caterpillars that pupate and finally a new butterfly takes it's place in nature.

Knowing that this cycle exists doesn't make death nor separation feel any better, it just gives it a meaning and reason.

Goodbye and bon voyage my friends... remember whom you left behind! :-P

MIFC

2nd September 2007, the 1st ever Malaysia International Fireworks Competition drew to a close after nearly 3 weeks of display at Putrajaya.

Being a bit fireworks crazy these days, I practially went to every single competition night. Fireworks photography for me is one of the most demanding and not to be missed for any reason... as they are by their nature transcient... one secodn they are burning brightly across the sky, the next moment they are nothing but tiny embers or ash falling from the sky. Once you miss a fireworks shot, it's gone... forever, never to repeat itself.

Photographing fireworks is like shooting any sports, event or wedding, each shot, each action is a split-second decision; It involves a little planning, previsualisation and following that luck as well.

All in all it is a very good and fun event... the attendance really surprised me; I think this is the first time there was a traffic jam on all roads leading from Putrajaya. Seems that we, Malaysians really love our fireworks. Can we have another next year?

I shall leave you with a couple more of my favorite shots from MIFC 2007.
